Donald Trump has agreed to sit down for the traditional pre-Super Bowl presidential interview with NBC ahead of Seahawks-Patriots this weekend.

It remains unclear whether the president will attend the big game in Santa Clara, with Trump himself previously claiming that he won’t – while others insist he will be in a VIP suite to watch the game.

Either way, he’ll definitely be on TV screens across America and beyond, after NBC confirmed that they’ll air a pre-recorded segment with him both on the night and leading up to the weekend.

NBC ‘Nightly News’ anchor Tom Llamas will be interviewing the 79-year-old, with their sit-down set to air in several parts beginning Wednesday night.

Trump has agreed to speak with NBC News despite his frequent attacks on the show in recent years, while he has also nicknamed its parent company Comcast as ‘Concast’.

The last time NBC televised the Super Bowl in 2018, during his first term as president, he rejected the chance to appear on its pregame show.

The presidential Super Bowl interview began with George W. Bush, before Barack Obama followed suit every year he was in office.

Trump opted to forego the sit-down with NBC in 2018 but did speak with Fox in 2017 and 2020, as well as CBS in 2019, while successor Joe Biden skipped the 2023 and 2024 interviews.

Last year, Trump was interviewed by Fox before attending the Philadelphia Eagles’ win over the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans.

Whether he is present for this year’s end-of-season football showpiece remains to be seen.

For months the Commander-in-Chief has scrutinized the NFL’s controversial decision to award the Super Bowl LX halftime show to anti-MAGA artist Bad Bunny.

Despite his fierce opposition, however, plans are still in place for the Puerto Rican rapper to take to the stage at Levi’s Stadium for Sunday’s finale in San Francisco.

Bad Bunny has previously spoken out against the Trump administration and cited ICE agents as a reason why he did not include any mainland US dates for his tour – before once again calling out the federal law enforcement group at the 2026 Grammys.

Trump, in response, revealed that he would swerve the game and later doubled down on his criticism of Bad Bunny as a ‘terrible choice’ for the big day.

Publicly, the US president has since stood by his declaration that he will not attend the game at Levi’s Stadium. However, in a dramatic twist, a White Houseinsider has revealed to the Daily Mail that Trump is expected to make a U-turn over his decision.

In an exclusive interview, sports broadcaster Emily Austin said: ‘Trump is going. Mark my words, he’s going. A little birdie at the ‘Melania’ premiere might have told me.

‘That little birdie is very close to the president and he will be going as well. And if the president doesn’t go, he’ll be going,’ she added.
