Ministers have today confirmed the appointment of Peter Walton and Koral Anderson as Non-Executive Directors (NEDs) to the Board of the Insolvency Service. 

Beginning in post on Monday 4 May 2026, they will support the Insolvency Service in its mission to deliver economic confidence by supporting those in financial distress, tackle financial wrongdoing and maximise returns to creditors. 

They will serve three-year terms, until May 2029. 

Biographies 

Peter Walton

Peter Walton is Emeritus Professor of Insolvency Law at the University of Wolverhampton (2024–), having served as Professor from 2013 to 2023 following a near fourty‑year academic career. A leading authority on insolvency and corporate rescue, he has contributed to major UK insolvency reforms, advised government and professional bodies, and is published widely. His experience includes international advisory work, professional technical governance roles, and senior leadership in insolvency education. 

Koral Anderson

Koral Anderson has been Head of Transformation at Barclays since 2022, leading large‑scale change across operations, digital, data, procurement and cost transformation. She previously held senior Chief Operating Officer and regulatory leadership roles at Barclays, and earlier senior management positions at Deutsche Bank and Goldman Sachs. With over 25 years’ experience in global financial services, she brings deep expertise in operational excellence, complex transformation, governance and delivery at scale.
