Harry Kane has said that England played too defensively against Argentina following their World Cup knockout.
England conceded two heartbreaking late goals from Enzo Fernandez and Lautaro Martinez in their World Cup semi-final with rivals Argentina on Wednesday (15 July), after Thomas Tuchel made several defensive substitutions.
Speaking following the disappointing loss, Kane said he was “gutted” to have missed out on Sunday’s final.
“We played a good game for the large majority of it. Once we went 1-0 up, we just seemed to try and hold on, which at this level is not enough. Just gutted because we worked so hard to be here.”
