New Lancashire bowler Ajeet Singh Dale is to undergo surgery on his injured hamstring.

Singh Dale suffered the injury after bowling only two overs in the match against his old club Gloucestershire 11 days ago, although no timescale has been put on his return.

It was just a second game in Lancashire colours for the 25-year-old fast bowler after his move to Emirates Old Trafford during the winter.

Also in that same match at Bristol, opening batter Luke Wells suffered a dislocated shoulder while fielding and he will face a long period out during the summer.

There was also a fresh injury in this week’s defeat at Durham as young all-rounder Arav Shetty fractured his thumb, also in the field.

The Red Rose went on to lose the game at Chester-le-Street by eight wickets following brilliant unbeaten centuries from Durham duo Emilio Gay and David Bedingham.
