Bettina Trump, the new wife of Donald Trump Jr., showed off a sugar cookie that featured President Donald Trump’s face on Mount Rushmore while on the way to his pre-Fourth of July speech Friday evening.
On Instagram, the 39-year-old posted a photo of a sugar cookie that featured what appeared to be an AI-generated image of Trump’s face alongside the four former U.S. presidents on Mount Rushmore.
The image was posted as the family was arriving in South Dakota for the president’s speech at Mount Rushmore on board Air Force One. Roughly two hours later, Trump posted a video on Truth Social of a gold replica of Mount Rushmore featuring his face.
It’s unclear whether the White House gave out the cookies to everyone on board Air Force One. Betsy Klein, CNN’s senior White House reporter, wrote on X that other people received sugar cookies featuring Mount Rushmore as-is with an image of Air Force One flying overhead.
The Independent has asked the White House for comment.
Bettina Trump joined other Trump family members on Air Force One, including her husband Donald Trump Jr., sister-in-law Tiffany Trump and brother-in-law Michael Boulos.
Adding Trump’s face to Mount Rushmore has been a long-running suggestion that has never formally been considered.
During his first term, then-South Dakota governor Kristi Noem gave the president a 4-foot-tall replica of Mount Rushmore with the president’s face on it. While Trump said he had never formally suggested adding his face to the monument, he joked that it “sounds like a good idea.”
In January, Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, a staunch ally of the president, introduced a bill that would add Trump’s face to the monument, though it did not advance in Congress.
The president addressed the nation in Keystone, South Dakota, Friday evening to kick off America’s 250th anniversary celebrations. While his speech began by highlighting the U.S.’s accomplishments, he quickly began railing against communism.
Calling communism “a mortal threat to American liberty,” the president warned about its spread, which he tied to the Democratic Party.
“So on the eve of this 250th anniversary of American heritage, we resolve and swear for all to hear that the citizens of the United States of America will vanquish communism quickly,” Trump told the crowd.
Though the president did not directly identify political figures that he believes are communists, he often applies the labels to his opponents, including former Vice President Kamala Harris, a Democrat, and New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, a Democratic Socialist.
