Shropshire Libraries have added an additional service to their digital support sessions in the form of help with the NHS App.
The free App gives patients access to NHS services securely and conveniently to book appointments and order repeat prescriptions without the need to ring or visit their medical practice. The App also has access to a number of other services including symptom checkers, NHS 111 and online consultations and is widely described as ‘a digital front door to GP practice services’.
Thanks to the partnership with the NHS, Shropshire Libraries staff have been provided with the tools and support to play a key part in helping people to use the NHS App to better understand and manage their health. Ten libraries in Shropshire are offering support on how to use the NHS App as part of their digital offer. Support includes how to register, navigate and get the most out of the App.
This service is available from 3 February from the following libraries: Bishop’s Castle, Bridgnorth, Broseley, Ellesmere, Ludlow, Market Drayton, Oswestry, Shifnal, Shrewsbury and Wem.
Robert Macey, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for culture and digital, said:
Shropshire Council is committed to working with our partners to benefit our residents.
Many people find using apps to manage their daily lives challenging, but this service helps overcome those challenges. By providing support with the NHS App, Shropshire Libraries ensure that more residents can access this service safely and conveniently, making their lives a little easier.
I am delighted with Shropshire Libraries’ partnership with the NHS, which exemplifies our dedication to improving the well-being of our community.
If you or someone you know wants to attend one of these sessions contact one of the participating libraries for more details or visit the Shropshire Libraries health and wellbeing website.
