If Rory McIlroy’s ‘WHOOP’ data is anything to go by, it would seem that the 2026 Masters champion celebrated in style on Sunday night.

The Northern Irishman etched his name into the history books once again after winning the 2026 Masters in emphatic style and retaining his title from last year.

McIlroy – who was seen having an emotional embrace with his parents, wife and daughter after the win – later admitted he planned to have a ‘sore head’ on Monday.

Speaking to media at Augusta, he explained: ‘We lose a lot more in golf than we win. So, I think when the winning comes around, you have to celebrate it to the fullest.

‘So, I will have a good time tonight and probably have a sore head flying back to Florida tomorrow morning.’

Now, WHOOP’s CEO and founder, Will Ahmed, has revealed the data behind McIlroy’s wild Sunday night celebrations and it’s safe to say he enjoyed himself.

The CEO of WHOOP has released McIlroy’s data from Masters week

Taking to X, Ahmed revealed that, throughout the week at Augusta, McIlroy had maintained a ‘recovery rate’ of 89 percent, 79 percent, 94 percent and 87 percent.

However, his ‘recovery rate’ was just seven percent on Monday – likely meaning that he was out until the early hours celebrating his historic victory at Augusta.

Earlier on Monday, Ahmed had shared further data which was collected by WHOOP.

The company’s CEO revealed McIlroy’s heart rate throughout the final moments of his Masters victory, showing that he had a 105bpm when he made his final putt.

His heart rate then spiked to 150bpm as he celebrated the victory at Augusta.

Ahmed further revealed that McIlroy had a resting heart rate between 47-49bpm throughout the weekend, displaying just how cool he was under pressure.

McIlroy, 36, won his sixth career major in the end by one shot from a charging Scottie Scheffler to finish 12-under-par.

After putting for victory, he hugged his best friend and caddie Harry Diamond before receiving another hug off the green with his five-year-old daughter Poppy.

After kissing his wife Erica Stoll – who he once filed for divorce in May 2024, before reconciling a month later – he then embraced his parents Rosie and Gerry as the celebrations began.

And during his presentation speech McIlroy paid tribute to his loved ones, leaving one member of his family blushing in embarrassment – his five-year-old daughter Poppy.

‘A few thank yous to the people on my left. First and foremost my wife and daughter Erica and Poppy, they have to put up with me at home and trust me sometimes that’s a tough thing to do. But they have been my biggest supporters,’ he said.

‘This has definitely turned into Poppy’s favourite week of the year.

‘I don’t know if it’s because of the Par Three tournament or it’s the all you can eat ice cream in the player services building.’

The joke sparked laughter among those in attendance and caused his daughter to cover her face in light-hearted embarrassment.
