The subject of which NRL club has the worst fans has dominated discussions among footy supporters for many years.
And as we head into the final round of the regular league season, it appears the topic has reared its head again on social media, with some footy fans taking to Reddit to answer the question of which team has the ‘most aggressive, loud or obnoxious fans?’.
Among the responses to the Reddit post, there is one club in particular that has received an overwhelming number of votes for the undesirable accolade, with many Reddit users stating that the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs have the worst fans.
The Doggies have enjoyed an excellent season and had sat at the top of the table for much of the 2025 campaign.
There was much hope that Cameron Ciraldo’s side could pick up the minor premiership title this season, but a mid-season slump proved costly, with the footy club dropping down the ladder to third in the standings.
Despite their dip in form, there has been much for Bulldogs fans to get excited about this year, as their side looked to be the yardstick for the competition, while other sides like Penrith and the Raiders have gradually picked up form throughout the season.
Canterbury Bulldogs fans have been named by a large majorty of footy lovers as the NRL’s worst supporters

But they weren’t the only fan base that copped flack, with Brisbane Broncos supporters also being criticised
Multiple supporters said that the South Sydney Rabbitohs were their least favourite fans in the league, while others added that Melbourne and Cronulla were also among their least favourite fans
Doggies fans caught the attention of the media this year, notably in Round 14, when the footy club sealed a huge 30-12 victory against the Eels at the Accor Stadium.
Some supporters were seen lining the streets in Belmore in Sydney’s south-west as they celebrated the victory.
However, their street party came with some controversy as the fans were seen stopping a motorbike and a ute from travelling down the street on Burwood Road, with police cars arriving to disperse the congregation of footy fans.
The incident saw the Doggies supporters cop some criticism from social media users, with one writing: ‘All this for beating the team in 2nd last?’
Now, though, many fans have taken to social media to criticise the Doggies fan base, with a large number of social media users pointing to Canterbury fans as the worst in the footy league.
But the Bulldogs were not the only group of fans who popped up in the poll.
Multiple supporters said that the South Sydney Rabbitohs were their least favourite fans in the league, while others added that Melbourne and Cronulla were also among their least favourite fans.
‘How is this even a question? It’s the Dogs,’ one Reddit user wrote in the Reddit thread.
A large number of Reddit users claimed that the Canterbury Bulldogs had the worst fans
‘I’m genuinely surprised there isn’t just a wall of “Doggies” comments here. It’s the only correct answer,’ one added.
One fan even opened up on how a member of their family had stopped taking his kids to the game because of the behaviour of some Dogs fans at the match.
‘My brother-in-law was an NRL tragic, the kind of guy who could name every player in the league, past and present, and their stats,’ the Reddit user wrote. ‘He was a third-generation Bulldog and lived in the Bankstown area.
‘When he stopped being able to take his son to the game because of the behaviour of the other supporters of his team, and obviously swapping teams is not an option, he just dropped NRL altogether. Doesn’t even watch Origin.’
One fan added: ‘I’m an AFL fan from Adelaide and even I know it’s the Dogs.’
‘I live on the opposite end of the planet and I can tell you with 100% certainty the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs have the worst supporters in the NRL, inclusive of Perth and PNG,’ another said.
‘Bulldogs (especially when they’re winning and everyone jumps back on the bandwagon), but Broncos fans are also quite arrogant.’
Some claimed that the Sharks were second-place to the Bulldogs: ‘Been a member of Knights 20 years, worst, most consistent trouble its Doggies fans. We once had choppa, riot squad up a few years back.
Some fans claimed that Bulldogs supporters got worse when the side started winning, with fans ‘jumping onto the bandwagon’
‘Sharkies next for angry fans.’
‘Cronulla,’ another wrote. ‘When you watch them on TV their supporters boo every hit up the home team makes (trying to goad an offside penalty, I suppose). What a s****y atmosphere this creates. How uninspiring they are to their own team.’
Others, though, were more sympathetic to Bulldogs fans: ‘I thought Dogs fans were alright for a few years but as soon as they win a few they become the worst again.’
‘I’ve not had a bad first-hand experience with doggies fans but they are notorious and out there.
‘For me it’s Souths fans. They’re literally everywhere, like a bad smell. I’ve seen so many in my travels – one rocked up in f***ing Carcassonne. They support a s*** club.’
‘Broncos. The ref calls “surrender” and they start booing for a penalty when the defender lies on the tackled player too long. They’re mostly clueless but think they aren’t.
‘It’s definitely not the Bulldogs fans, we’re really understanding and just misunderstood…’
They were not the only person to cite the Broncos, though, with others joining the thread to call the Broncos ‘arrogant’.
One claimed that Tigers fans were the best in the league, while the Dogs, Bunnies and Melbourne fans were the worst.
‘Bulldogs, Souths and Melbourne fans are the worst,’ the individual wrote.
‘Tigers fans are probably the best. I think it says something about their character that they stick with the team after so many struggles.’
And one fan hilariously joked that Brisbane were the worst, because that’s who their ex supported.
‘Brisbane because lmao it’s who my ex supported,’ they wrote.
But one fan pointed out that no one had mentioned the Cowboys.
‘Obviously Dogs’ supporters is a popular answer, but why are people sleeping on Cowboys’ supporters. Those people are just delusional.’
While one gave their reasoning for why they thought the Warriors had the worst fans in the league.
‘Warriors,’ they wrote. ‘So many of their fans do, in fact, think they can do better than the players. Even the 150kg “I’ll have a steak and a chicken parmi with six schooners thanks” blokes.’
