After avoiding his return to the team due to a contract dispute, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Jacoby Brissett will finally show up at his team’s mandatory minicamp to avoid being fined.

If he did not report, Brissett was at risk of being hit with a financial penalty of $107,911 per the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement.

The Cardinals’ minicamp will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, however, it’s unclear how much Brissett will take part.

Brissett, age 33, is projected to be the team’s Week 1 starter in 2026 after the Cardinals traded Kyler Murray to the Minnesota Vikings in the offseason.

Considering he was signed on a backup’s salary, it’s not surprising that Brissett would now want a raise due to his new role.

However, according to ESPN, the two sides are ‘significantly’ far apart on a new deal. This means that Brissett will most likely report without a new agreement in place.

But the North Carolina State product is in the final year of a two-year, $12.5million deal that only has $1.5million guaranteed to him this season.

Brissett is set to earn a base salary of $4.88million for 2026 which has the potential to increase to $5.39m.

The veteran signal caller’s base salary and guaranteed money is significantly smaller than what the Cardinals’ projected backup quarterback, Gardner Minshew, made last season as a backup with the Kansas City Chiefs.

Last season, Brissett took over for Murray after the now-Viking suffered an injury.

Brissett went on to play in 14 NFL games and started in 12. Per ESPN, he was the league’s top-ranked quarterback from Week 6 (when he got his first start over Murray) on dropbacks, play-actions, completions and attempts.
