Former Miami Marlins president turned MLB analyst David P. Samson has announced the tragic death of his 28-year-old daughter, Kyra.
Samson made the announcement in a heartbreaking social media post Wednesday, along with a picture of Kyra.
He wrote on X: ‘Yesterday, my daughter, Kyra, passed away peacefully after a 9 month and 11 day fight against one of the cruelest diseases I’ve ever seen up close. She was diagnosed with Brain Cancer, specifically Glioblastoma.
‘I have felt all of your concern and love for these months and wasn’t ready to be anymore specific than I was.
‘Kyra was a 28-year-old young woman who loved deeply and who is impossible to describe in 280 characters. While her life got stolen from her, she handled these months with courage, poise, and resolve.
‘All I want is for no family to feel what we feel today. For no young person to suffer the way she did.’

Samson then added that anybody wishing to make a memorial gift can donate to The Kyra Fund, which will be used to research treatments for Glioblastomas.
Samson spent 18 seasons in MLB, 16 of which were as the president of the Marlins.
In 2017, he was the second-longest tenured team president in MLB before he was let go after helping negotiate the $1.2billion takeover of the franchise by Derek Jeter and Bruce Sherman.
Samson is now a successful broadcaster with his own show ‘Nothing Personal with David Samson’, while he also appears on ‘The Dan Le Batard Show’.
He has also served as an MLB analyst for CBS Sports HQ and CBS Sports Network since 2018.
