Matthew Stafford wasted no time returning to his fatherly duties following the Los Angeles Rams’ heartbreaking exit from the NFL playoffs.

Video footage shared by his wife, Kelly, showed the veteran quarterback walking through his home in the early hours of Monday morning to check on his children.

The 37-year-old had arrived back in Los Angeles shortly after the Rams suffered a crushing 31-27 defeat to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game.

Despite the emotional toll of the loss, Stafford was filmed tip-toeing into his four daughters’ bedrooms just after 2 a.m.

He visited each room quietly, leaning over their beds to give them a gentle hug and a kiss goodnight while they slept.

Kelly Stafford posted the touching clip to her Instagram page on Monday, revealing how quickly her husband shifted from quarterback to dad.

‘After leaving everything out on that field and coming up short,’ Kelly wrote. ‘At 2:30 am, this was Matthew.’

The video offered a glimpse into the reality of NFL life, where the highs of competition are often immediately followed by the grounding responsibilities of parenthood.

Stafford had spent the previous evening battling in a hostile environment at Lumen Field in Seattle, fighting for a spot in Super Bowl LX.

The Rams fell just short in a tight contest, with the Seahawks securing the victory to advance to the title game against the New England Patriots.

Instead of staying in Seattle or dwelling on the defeat with teammates, Stafford flew straight back to California to be with his family.

The couple shares four daughters – twins Chandler and Sawyer, Hunter, and Tyler -who were all asleep when their father returned.

For Stafford, the loss marked the end of a resurgent season that saw the Rams defy expectations to reach the brink of another Super Bowl appearance.

He famously led the franchise to a championship in Super Bowl LVI, cementing his legacy in Los Angeles.

However, the opportunity to add a second ring will have to wait until next year. For now, the quarterback appears focused on his offseason role at home.
