Manchester United have conceded straight from a corner kick for the second time in a single week as Ruben Amorim’s side suffered a second-half blow on Boxing Day.
The visitors conceded straight from the set-piece as Matheus Cunha’s effort sailed straight into the back of the net, beyond Andre Onana.
It was a double blow in quick succession, with captain Bruno Fernandes sent off for a second yellow card just 10 minutes prior.
The ball was crossed in from the defensive right hand side, and with Onana stood on the line in the centre of the goal, he was unable to divert the cross.
There was a suggestion that the goalkeeper had been fouled, with the Cameroonian star making straight for the referee, but there appeared to be no indication of foul play.
Shortly after the calamitous error, former Man United legend Rio Ferdinand took to social media to seemingly make his opinions on the matter known.

‘No comment,’ the ex-central defender wrote on X, as his old side once again struggled with set-pieces.
Cunha’s strike came at a point in which the visitors had just been reduced to 10, and the Wolves star later turned provider to assist Hwang Hee-chan’s goal in the 99th minute, to put the result beyond any doubt.
At the point that Cunha’s ball entered Onana’s airspace, there were two Wolves attackers in close vicinity to the goalkeeper, who was cleverly isolated from the rest of his defence.
It was a third consecutive defeat for the visitors in all competitions, following a 3-0 drubbing by Bournemouth last weekend and a 4-3 loss at Tottenham in the Carabao Cup.
Heading into Thursday’s clash, United had already conceded a club record 17 goals from set-pieces.
In fact, Cunha had already chanced his hand with a cheekily attempted free-kick aimed at the near post, though on that occasion nothing came of his effort.
After the game, the in-form Wolves forward revealed that the side had prepared heavily for set-piece situations.
‘I feel so happy. We didn’t start the season well, we come together, we suffer together and we score together,’ Cunha said.

‘You can see how happy the fans are. He’s [Pereira] come here with a lot of energy and he said it was his dream to come here and manage a team in the Premier League, and you can see the energy.
‘No [never scored from corner before] first time. We train it a lot – we try to manage the goalkeeper and we did it so well and I’m so happy. The first half I did one and it was saved and in the second half I get some luck.
‘Channy says to me every day “pass to me and i’ll score” and I’m so happy because I got the chance to pass to him and he scored.’
Man United will be looking to bounce back from a bruising result against Newcastle, while Wolves’ resurgence will next face the test of a Tottenham side in need of a win of their own.
