The Green Party has won a historic by-election victory, taking the Gorton and Denton seat from Labour.

Hannah Spencer won a majority of 4,402 to become the party’s first by-election winner and and its first North-West MP.

Reform’s Matt Goodwin came in second with 10,578 votes, while Labour’s Angeliki Stogia came third, polling 9,364 in a seat Labour won by 13,500 votes at the 2024 General Election.

Radio Manchester’s Joe McGrath is joined by Greater Manchester political reporter Kevin Fitzpatrick to bring the latest reaction from the Gorton and Denton by-election.
