Juventus have trained their sights on Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez after missing out on Liverpool’s Alisson.
Much will depend on whether the Italians can get near Villa’s valuation of the Argentina No 1 who almost left for Manchester United last year.
But Villa have been anticipating that the 33-year-old could go hence their interest in the likes of Manchester City and England’s James Trafford.
Juventus had targeted Alisson initially as they were convinced he wanted to join them and they believed a deal could be concluded with him having just one year left in contract.
Liverpool, though, are not in a position to spend big on a replacement as they look to utilise their budget on other priority positions and they have told the Brazilian they want him to stay and look likely to allow the 33-year-old to run his contract down.
Alisson, who has had his injury issues, is loyal to Liverpool so had no desire to rock the boat despite the attraction of a return to Italy where he played under Juve coach Luciano Spalletti at Roma.

Juve had also considered Everton’s Jordan Pickford but that never got off the ground yet an alternative to Martinez remains Tottenham keeper Guglielmo Vicario.
He was involved in talks with Inter Milan earlier in the year but they have since discussed Arsenal’s Kepa Arrizabalaga, who can leave for his £5m clause, however their favourite now looks to be Lazio’s Ivan Provedel.
