Lessons in Lifestyle

Restaurant chains all across the U.S. have created special menus and food deals in honor of America’s 250th anniversary this year.

On July 4, America will commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. The occasion is a huge milestone nationwide, with massive concerts, festivals and parades taking place on July 4.

Many brands have also made plans to celebrate the holiday by offering red, white and blue sweet treats and discounted hot dogs. From Burger King to McDonald’s, here are some of the best deals for America’s 250th birthday this year.

Until July 12, Sonic Drive-In will be offering a special menu at participating locations nationwide, with each item costing only $2.50.

The menu includes a Red, White & Blue Slush Float, featuring blue raspberry flavor, creamy vanilla soft serve and real strawberries. There’s also a portion of onion rings, a Jr Double Cheeseburger and All-American Hot Dog available.

Aside from the new menu, Sonic has limited-edition cups commemorating the occasion, available with every drink purchase this summer.

Dunkin’ Donuts

On June 29, Dunkin’ Donuts will launch its new limited-time menu for America 250, including a lineup of drinks and donuts.

The drinks on the menu are: the Fruit Punch Refresher, Peachberry Tea Dunkin’ Zero, Starlight Lemonade, Freeze Pop Limeade, Cherrylicious Daydream Refresher, Peanut Butter Dunkalatte, Cookie Cravings Iced Coffee, Oreao & PB Coffee Chiller, Strawberry Sparkler Cloud Latte, Shakin’ Espresso with Sugar Free Vanilla and Dazzleberry Coolatta.

There’s also the Rocket Pop Donut — a star-shaped sweet treat, topped with blue icing and a stars-and-stripes sprinkle blend — and a Stars & Stripes Donut, which is a classic donut with blue icing and red, white and blue sprinkles.

In addition, Dunkin’ will launch a limited-edition eagle-shaped cup to celebrate July 4. The glassware will be available starting June 29 in restaurants nationwide until supplies last.

Starting July 1, customers can get new merchandise, ranging from a drinks tumbler to a women’s swimsuit, on Dunkin’s website.

Burger King

On July 4, members of Burger King’s Royal Perks program can get a Whopper Jr. for $2.50. However, orders have to be made on the Burger King App or online at BK.com.

Earlier this month, Burger King introduced its Firecracker Cookie Pie in honor of America 250. The dessert layers a vanilla cream — topped with red, white, and blue star-shaped sprinkles —over a crisp sugar cookie crust. The limited-time offering will be in stores until supplies last.

McDonald’s

McDonald’s has officially brought back its Fried Apple Pie for America 250. The dessert returned for the first time in more than 30 years, after being discontinued in 1992.

The Fried Apple Pie is a signature filling, made with 100% American-grown apples, inside a crispy fried crust. The sweet treat will be available until supplies last at participating stores nationwide.

There’s also the Firework — a glazed donut with vanilla-flavored icing, gold glitter and a fireworks sugar piece — and the Freedom Ring, an a glazed donut dipped in white icing, before being topped with white stars, blue sprinkles and three red icing stripes.

The fourth donut is an Original Glazed dipped in chocolate icing and topped with a mix of red, white and blue sprinkles.

Applebee’s

Applebee’s is offering its signature margaritas for only $1 during the entire month of July to mark 250 years of American independence. The drink, made with tequila, triple sec and lime, will be available nationwide at restaurants for dine-in only.
