King Charles’ cousin Flora Vesterberg has welcomed a baby girl – her first child with her financier husband Timothy.
Flora, who is the granddaughter of the late Queen Elizabeth’s first cousin, Princess Alexandra, announced the news in an Instagram post.
“Our daughter Isabel Marina Vesterberg arrived safely on the morning of 8 July,” she wrote.
“Timothy and I are overjoyed and full of love for her. She’s named for the blessing that she is as well as my paternal great-grandmother.
“Her name also means ‘of the sea’ where we always feel most at peace in Scotland and Sweden. Thank you for your thoughtful messages xx”
She shared a photo of the baby sleeping in a crib, wearing a white dress and a matching bonnet.
Isabel is the first great-grandchild of Princess Alexandra, 89.
She is expected to be 62nd in the line of succession to the British throne, after her 31-year-old mother, who is King Charles’ third cousin.
The baby’s name honours Flora’s great-grandmother Princess Marina of Greece and Denmark, later the Duchess of Kent.
Marina was a Greek and Danish princess by birth and became a British princess by marriage when she wed Prince George, Duke of Kent, in 1934.
Marina, who was widowed in 1942 when her husband died in active service during the Second World War, was active in royal duties throughout her life.
She died in 1968 at the age of 61.
Other Marinas in the royal family include Flora’s cousin Marina Windsor, who served as the maid of honour at the church blessing of Flora and Timothy’s wedding at St James’s Palace in September 2021.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh were among the guests at the wedding, along with Lady Amelia Windsor and Lord Freddie Windsor.
The church blessing was held the year after Flora and Timothy wed in a small, private ceremony, due to Covid restrictions.
Flora, an art historian, first announced her pregnancy on Instagram in January.
She posted a photo of herself and her husband, with her hand resting on her baby bump, and wrote: “Delighted to share that Timothy and I are expecting our first child. We’re truly over the moon.”
