Hugh Grant was forced to correct Martin Brundle live on TV after the Formula 1 presenter praised him for a TV series he was never in.

Sunday (5 July) saw the British Grand Prix take place at Silverstone, with a wave of British stars among the 600,000 attendees at the Northamptonshire circuit.

Ahead of the race, presenter and former driver Brundle, 67, interviewed the biggest names in attendance on his legendary Sky Sports grid walk, where he stopped to speak to celebrities including Lewis Capaldi, Phil Foden and Hannah Waddingham.

Brundle’s last interview was with Grant, 65, who shook Brundle’s hand and explained that he was there with his sons, John, 13, and Felix, 11, as a guest of Ferrari. “I’m a big Ferrari fan,” Grant said.

Brundle then used his time with Grant to ask him about the highly anticipated second season of Guy Ritchie’s Netflix crime series The Gentlemen.

“Are you doing another round of The Gentlemen soon, because I really loved that,” he asked Grant, repeating himself when the Notting Hill star didn’t hear him the first time around.

However, this forced Grant to point out Brundle’s mistake – that he wasn’t actually in Netflix’s series The Gentlemen, but Ritchie’s original film of the same name, released in 2019.

“Well, I did the film of The Gentlemen. I haven’t seen the TV series,” he replied, to which Brundle awkwardly riffed: “Oh, right. It’s really good, you really must.”

Released in 2019, The Gentlemen movie centred upon a wealthy American drug dealer (played by Matthew McConaughey) looking to sell his marijuana business in the UK. Charlie Hunnam, Henry Golding and Michelle Dockery were amongst the film’s British cast.

The film then spawned a spin-off series for Netflix starring Theo James and Kaya Scodelario, which was released in 2024.

But while Netflix announced that filming had begun on season two in August 2024, it only wrapped in October 2025, with James confirming in April that the show would be hitting the streamer this autumn.

“There’s still tweaks to be done, but it will be in the fall, coming out. And it’s fun. It’s still funny, but it’s darker. Goes a little wild,” he said.

In addition to James and Scodelario, cast members Daniel Ings, Ray Winstone, Joely Richardson, Vinnie Jones, Giancarlo Esposito, Michael Vu and Pearce Quigley will all be returning.

They’ll also be joined by Hugh Bonneville and, somewhat unexpectedly, Love Island presenter Maya Jama in one of her first acting roles.
