Popular NFL sideline reporter Devan Kaney is back in business three months on from her shock firing.

Kaney brutally lost her role as a Philadelphia Eagles sideline reporter with 94WIP-FM Sports Radio in April in a ruthless sweep of job cuts at the station.

However, the experienced reporter has now landed back on her feet as she finds herself back in the league.

Kaney announced on Tuesday that she will be covering the Chicago Bears for Fox 32 news next season.

The revelation comes just two weeks after she mentioned people could ‘prob still catch me on Fox airwaves.’

Kaney, who started with the station in 2022, had spent the last four seasons with a dual role as a regular co-host on WIP’s morning show and sideline reporter for Philadelphia’s NFL team, including during their Super Bowl-winning season.

Kaney’s role was eliminated in April as part of the latest raft of cost-cutting measures, and is another brutal example of the sports media industry’s job losses in recent months.

The decision was taken by the radio station’s parent company Audacy.

Kaney herself confirmed the firing with a post that read: ‘I had a blast working at WIP and sincerely enjoyed my time working there.

‘But as the old saying goes, when one door closes, another opens.’

While she is leaving the City of Brotherly Love, Kaney confirmed that she will continue to host her Phillies podcast ‘Werth Talking About.’

Kaney will now be joining the Bears coverage the season after they reached the Divisional Round of the playoffs following an 11-6 regular-season resurgence.

Quarterback Caleb Williams went from strength to strength in his second year in the league after new head coach Ben Johnson took charge in the Windy City.

Chicago kick starts its 2026 NFL season on the road against the Carolina Panthers on September 13.

The news of Kaney’s axing came just days after a fellow Philadelphia sports host in Taryn Hatcher was also culled.

Hatcher worked for NBC Sports Philadelphia in a multi-sports role, covering both MLB’s Phillies as a sideline reporter, and the NBA’s 76ers.

NBCSP said at the time that the network was ‘shifting its storytelling approach to reach a broader audience’.
