Cadent Gas is to carry out gas main replacement work on Mount Pleasant Road, Shrewsbury from Monday 27 July [2026], with work expected to be completed by 1 September [2026].
During the work a one-way closure will be in place, preventing traffic from accessing Mount Pleasant Road from Ditherington Road.
The work will see operatives working on behalf of Cadent Gas replace the existing cast-iron gas main with a new polyethylene main between the Sandford Avenue junction and the roundabout adjacent to the Steam Wagon Public House.
Once this phase of the work has been completed, the one-way closure will be removed and three-way temporary traffic signals will be installed on the roundabout, together with a road closure on Boscobel Drive.
These measures are required to enable operatives to safely complete the final excavation works within the roundabout area.
Whilst the one-way closure is in place, a signed diversion route will be provided. Access to residential properties and businesses will be maintained at all times.
The work have been programmed ahead of the planned resurfacing of Mount Pleasant Road to ensure that the new road surface is not subsequently impacted.
Affected residents and businesses will be notified directly, and advance warning signs will be erected approximately two weeks prior to the commencement of the scheme.
