The number of subscriptions to Shropshire Council’s garden waste collection service for the year November 2025 to October 2026 has hit the council’s target of 77,000, with this figure being achieved earlier than at the same point last year.

To date there have been 77,123 subscriptions and, with the number of subscribers increasing each day, the number is set to beat last year’s overall figure of 77,158.

The service is now in its second year and people can pay £58 per bin per year to have their garden waste collected from the kerbside in the 12 months from 1 November to 31 October.

David Vasmer, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member with responsibility for waste management, said:

“We’re really pleased with the number of households that have so far subscribed for the year ending 31 October 2026, which shows that people clearly value and make good use of the service. We’ve hit our target and are on track to beat last year’s total, and I want to thank everyone that has signed up.

“As we’re now into the time of year when people spend more time doing jobs in their garden we’re reminding people that if they have any garden waste we can take it away for them – all they have to do is sign up to the collection service.”

Subscribing is quick and easy, and can be done online or by phone, with assistance available in person from the advisers at the council’s Shropshire Local hubs.

People can take out a joint subscription with a neighbour and share a bin, and can subscribe on behalf of someone else.

For more information and to subscribe online visit www.shropshire.gov.uk/gardenwaste. To subscribe by call MiPermit on 0345 520 7007 and select option 4

Garden waste can also be taken to one of Shropshire Council’s household recycling centres, or composted at home.
