Fleetwood Mac legend Lindsey Buckingham has been attacked with an unknown substance by a woman who police say might be a stalker.

The guitarist, 76, was ambushed while walking into a building Wednesday in Santa Monica, police said.

The woman, who police described as a “stalking suspect,” reportedly threw something on Buckingham and then ran away. Both Santa Monica and Los Angeles police are investigating the reported ambush. Police did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.

No arrests have been made as of Wednesday afternoon, but police said they know who the woman is. Authorities also said Buckingham is familiar with the woman due to previous incidents.

Buckingham was not injured in the incident. His representatives did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment.

This is not the first instance of Buckingham being targeted.

In 2024, the rock star filed a permanent restraining order after declaring that his life was in danger due to a woman harassing his family since 2021.

A previous temporary restraining order required the alleged stalker to stay 100 yards away from the musician, his wife Kristen Buckingham, and his son William Buckingham.

Court papers show that Buckingham said the woman had obtained Kristen’s phone number and called her dozens of times each day.

He accused the woman of leaving long messages containing violent threats and claims that she was his daughter.

The guitarist said in the temporary restraining order request, “She also blamed me for facial deformities she apparently suffered as a child and demanded money.”

He added, “I do not know [the woman] and I am not her father.”

Police became involved with the situation and officers told the woman to stop contacting Buckingham in 2022.

The situation started back up again in 2024, when Buckingham and his wife received a collage on their mailbox with pictures of the woman’s face. Buckingham then said the woman came to one of his homes in Los Angeles in September of that year.

It is unclear if Wednesday’s incident and Buckingham’s previous stalker are related.
