England are out of the World Cup after a heart-breaking late collapse against Argentina. But with Lionel Messi totally ineffective before Anthony Gordon’s opening goal, England never again threatened to score after taking the lead. Adam Clery looks at how both the team, and manager Thomas Tuchel, managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of a famous victory.
