Charlie Woods suffered yet another setback in his pursuit to follow in his famous father’s footsteps this week.
Charlie, the 17-year-old son of golf legend Tiger Woods, failed to qualify for this year’s US Amateur Championship – the leading annual tournament for amateur golfers in the United States.
He teed it up at Ohio State University’s Scarlet Course on Thursday in an attempt to secure his place in the tournament field.
However, Charlie, who has committed to Florida State University when he finishes high school next year, struggled in the qualifying event.
He shot a five-over 76 to miss out on qualifying by six shots, according to Golf Digest. A total of 13 qualifiers and two alternates emerged from the Scarlet Course site.
Charlie now turns his focus to the US Junior Amateur Championship, which will take place later this month at Saucon Valley.

It marks the latest blow for Charlie, who has struggled recently to string together a series of promising results in his young career.
Charlie has participated in seven ranked events this season, where his best finish was 19th place at the Junior Orange Bowl International back in January.
Aside from that event, Charlie is yet to secure another top-25 finish this season.
Earlier this month, he missed the cut at the North & South Men’s Amateur at Pinehurst No. 2 and No. 4 in North Carolina.
After hovering near the cut line for a majority of the second round on Wednesday, Woods finished at 7-over par across 36 holes on the two famed courses.
In May, two months after his dad’s latest DUI scandal, Charlie ended up finishing 28th at the Team TaylorMade Invitational – an event that he had won the prior year.
In comparison, by the same stage of his career, Tiger had already begin raking in success.
Tiger won a record three consecutive US Juniors and three consecutive US Amateurs, including his first as an 18-year-old in 1994.

Meanwhile, according to The Caddie Network, the son of the 15-time major champion has an estimated valuation of $3 million, as per their latest Collegiate Golf NIL market values.
The astonishing figure stands as the highest Golf NIL valuation since the rankings were introduced in 2024.
Despite struggling to find consistent tournament results this season, the Florida State University commit’s star power and 164,000 social media followers have cemented his unmatched commercial appeal, according to the report.
While Charlie sits in top spot on the list, he is closely followed by Kai Trump.
The granddaughter of the President, who boasts three million followers on Instagram, ranks second on the list with an estimated NIL valuation of $2.25 million.
Kai is the daughter of Vanessa Trump, who is dating Charlie’s father, meaning the combined families dominate the rankings.
Meanwhile, in third place sits Charlie’s future Florida State teammate Miles Russell.
According to The Caddie Network, Russell holds an estimated valuation of $1 million – despite sitting No. 1 in the AJGA rankings and No. 5 in World Amateur Golf rankings.
