A hapless mistake from a Baltimore Orioles pitcher allowed for an opposing runner to score a cheap run in a moment described as ‘unacceptable’ and ‘childish.’

In a game against the Chicago White Sox, the Southsiders scored their third run of the day thanks to a disastrous mishap from the O’s.

Starting pitcher Kyle Bradish threw a six-pitch walk to Chicago’s third baseman Colson Montgomery, which should have only loaded the bases for the White Sox.

However, Bradish made a lazy effort in trying to catch a throw back to the mound from catcher Adley Rutschman.

Bradish swatted at the ball and missed the catch – letting it fall to the ground behind him and rolled away on the infield grass by the mound.

In a moment of brilliance, Chicago’s Chase Meidroth – who was advancing to third on the walk – notice what happened and made a wild dash for home.

By the time Bradish realized what happened, he hustled to the ball and tried to pick Meidroth off at home. But the pitchers toss home was too high to prevent the run from scoring.

Adding insult to injury, Montgomery rounded first and reached second as Rutschman double-clutched on his throw and couldn’t get his pick off attempt to the bag in time.

Bradish was ultimately charged with a pair of errors on the play – one for the missed catch leading to the run scoring and another for the high throw home.

But the damage stopped there as Bradish struck out Andrew Benintendi to end that half of the inning.

The wild play ultimately didn’t matter as the Orioles scored two runs in the sixth and another in the ninth to win the game 5-3.

After the game, Bradish admitted to exhibiting ‘childish behavior’ and that he’d be sure to not commit a ‘mental error’ like that again.

‘Yeah, frustration just came out,’ Bradish told reporters – admitting he spoke to manager Craig Albernaz after the mistake. ‘It’s unacceptable, it’s childish behavior and that will not happen again.’
