Aubrey Plaza is sharing her disappointment after Amazon canceled her animated comedy series after just one season.

“Amazon Prime is not picking up Kevin for another season,” the 41-year-old actor announced Saturday in an Instagram post.

“Very disappointing since we were just getting going,” she wrote. “I want to say thank you to all the fans that watched our show and all of the incredible cast and crew that worked so hard to make this dream come alive.”

The Parks and Recreation alum co-created Kevin, an adult animated sitcom, with her ex-boyfriend, comedian Joe Wengert, for Amazon Prime Video. The series starred Plaza, Amy Sedaris, Jason Schwartzman, John Waters, Aparna Nancherla, Gil Ozeri, Whoopi Goldberg and Ben Rodgers.

Released in April, Kevin drew from Plaza and Wengert’s former relationship and the cat they shared. The series followed a spoiled house cat living on his own for the first time in New York City after he becomes separated from his owners.

“I remember on the early days of Parks & Rec when we all thought we would be cancelled because our ratings weren’t great,” Plaza wrote.

“Our numbers. But we had some special humans over at NBC that believed in the show and let us grow and let audiences fall in love with our characters,” she added.

She continued: “I was hoping for this for Kevin but sadly we are living in a different time in our industry. I hope the machines won’t ruin everything. Maybe Kevin will find a new owner someday. Love you all very much. Meow.”

Amazon did not immediately return The Independent’s request for comment about the cancelation.

Wengert said Amazon Prime “told us they won’t be making any more episodes of KEVIN.”

“Thank you to our cast and crew for their time and talent and incredible work,” he wrote. “Thank you to all the people who watched the show. And thank you to Aubrey and Murph for caring about this as much as I did.”

He said he is “extremely grateful to have made a funny show that is so insanely, specifically FOR ME with some old friends and some new friends and some personal heroes and some full-on icons.”

Wengert added: “I’m proud of what we built and I’m super disappointed we won’t be going back there. (And for the record, there weren’t too many butthole jokes. It was a major part of his lived experience and Kevin would have wanted me to keep all of them in.)”
