If this hot weather has you wanting to live on ice cream for the rest of the heatwave, but you can’t afford Ninja’s cult-favourite creami ice-cream maker, Lidl is here to save the summer. The budget supermarket about to launch its own version – and it’s £130 cheaper.

Costing just £69.99, Lidl’s SilverCrest premium freezi ice cream maker features seven different preset functions. You can make everything from ice cream, light ice cream and gelato to sorbets, smoothie bowls and more. It even comes with a recipe booklet so you can whip up the perfect frozen creation.

Like the Ninja creami, you’ll need to freeze your ingredients for 24 hours before spinning them into a frozen dessert. Arriving in stores this week, here’s how to get your hands on Lidl’s budget ice cream maker.

When can you buy Lidl’s ice cream maker?

Winging its way into the middle aisle this week, you’ll be able to buy the SilverCrest premium freezy ice cream maker in Lidl stores up and down the country starting from Thursday 16 July. Because it’s a middle aisle item, once they’re all gone, it won’t be making a comeback.

How much does Lidl’s ice cream maker cost?

Lidl’s ice cream maker costs £69.99, undercutting Ninja’s creami, which costs £199.99. Lidl isn’t the only supermarket launching a new ice cream maker this month.

Aldi has also announced it will be launching an affordable ice cream maker of its own on the exact same date.

If you’re dying for something cold, Ninja’s ice cream maker has been slashed by £30 when you use the code “CREAMi” at the checkout. It’s not as cheap as Lidl’s £69.99 ice cream maker, but it comes tried-and-tested by IndyBest’s team. In her review of the best ice cream makers, IndyBest reviewer Rachael Penn said “the machine took just two minutes to create a perfectly creamy and delicious soft scoop.”

Featuring multiple pre-programmed settings, including ice cream, lite ice cream, sorbet, gelato, smoothie bowls and milkshakes, it’s easy to whip up your favourite dessert in seconds. You can even add extra ingredients to distribute throughout the dessert.

Want something even cheaper? Cuisinart’s solo scoops ice cream maker has been rated as the best budget ice cream maker.

The one-touch operation makes it a doddle to use, and it’s perfect for smaller servings. “While you’re limited to one batch at a time, the results were consistently creamy and satisfying during testing, and you get a decent amount of ice cream with this machine,” said tester Rachael.
