In an era where digital content is constantly reshaped, republished, and sometimes deliberately misleading, establishing trust and ensuring the integrity of online information is more critical than ever. That’s why the NCSC’s recent collaboration with the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) has been so valuable – not just for the insights it produced, but for the way it brought together diverse perspectives to tackle a complex and evolving topic.

Over several months, we worked closely with our Canadian counterparts to explore the emerging field of public content provenance – technologies and strategies that help organisations verify the origin, integrity, and history of their digital content. The result is a jointly-authored primer that introduces key concepts, technologies, and practical considerations for organisations looking to build trust in their public-facing information.
