Zendaya has addressed why she’s remained tight-lipped on whether she and Tom Holland have tied the knot.
At the 2026 Actor Awards last month, Zendaya’s longtime stylist, Law Roach, claimed that Hollywood’s favorite couple had already wed, sparking intense speculation that the actors have since declined to confirm or deny.
During a recent appearance on The New York Times’s Modern Love podcast with her The Drama co-star Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, 29, explained why she’s avoided giving a definitive answer about the marriage rumors.
“I just feel like for me there is a level of parasocial investment in my personal relationship, which I understand,” the Emmy-winning Euphoria star said. “I’m aware that I’m a public person and so is he, and I’m also aware that we’ve grown up in front of people and we’ve done movies where we fall in love with each other, so I really do understand that, and I don’t want to dismiss that like, ‘Stay out of my business’ or whatever.”
Zendaya, who has been spotted wearing what appears to be a wedding band on multiple occasions, continued: “But in a lot of ways, I’m also a very private person, and I try my best to be able to have things for myself and for him as well.”
Zendaya clarified that she and Holland are not trying to hide their relationship from the world, but instead are doing their best to “preserve things for ourselves so that we can maintain that joy just within ourselves” and their close circle of friends and family.
“I hear it,” she said of the gossip, “but I also [have] my own little boundaries of what I like to bring up and talk about, but then also what I’m also willing to share, you know? I just try to find the balance in the middle there.”
Zendaya and Holland got engaged in 2025 after four years of dating. The two first met while auditioning for 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which they went on to star in as love interests Peter Parker/Spider-Man and MJ.
“I was pretty nervous,” the Dune actor recalled of the audition, “but he did make me feel calm, just by being a nice person, by making me feel comfortable.”
Zendaya said she feels “really peaceful” around Holland, which is how she knew he was the one.
“I knew that this is my person, because I don’t feel nervous [with him],” she noted. “I actually feel more nervous away from [him].”
