Indiana Fever star Sophie Cunningham has marked her much-celebrated return to the team by getting rebaptized on her own ‘terms’.

Cunningham, who re-signed with the Fever on a new one-year contract last week, shared footage of her baptism at Christ’s Church of the Valley in Peoria, Arizona, on TikTok this week.

Alongside the video, she explained in the caption: ‘I got baptized when I was little but I was feeling a tug on my heart to do it on my terms as an adult! Such a fun, amazing day. Thank you Jesus’.

The 29-year-old guard has been open about her strong Christian faith over the years, frequently sharing religious posts on her various social media channels.

Indiana confirmed she had rejoined the team on Sunday afternoon, with the one-year deal meaning she will line up alongside close friend Caitlin Clark again in 2026.

In a statement on the Fever’s website, Cunningham said: ‘We had a really special group last year and it was an incredible first season for me in Indy; I loved everything about my teammates and the Fever organization.

‘We fought through a ton of adversity, and it was important to me that we have a chance to see through what we started.

‘I have a feeling this is going to be another special season, so I’m excited to get things started and to, of course, keep playing in front of the best fans in the WNBA.’

Cunningham averaged a career-high 43.2 percent from beyond the arc in 2025, proving to be one of the most reliable shooters in the WNBA.

She made 30 appearances for the Fever last year before suffering an MCL tear which cut her season short and cast doubt over her future.

Before joining Indiana, the 6-foot-1 guard spent six years with the Phoenix Mercury.

She holds a career scoring average of nearly nine points per game, though her impact often goes beyond the box score due to her vocal leadership on court.
