Prominent Australian horse trainer Kim Waugh left X users stunned after labelling Muslim worshippers who recently confronted Prime Minister Anthony Albanese at a Sydney mosque as ‘animals’.

In an astonishing outburst on social media, the wife of cricket legend Mark Waugh responded to a recent political piece by Avi Yemini from Rebel News Australia with a heated slur.

On March 23, Yemini posted that Greens Senator Mehreen Faruqi ‘used parliament to defend the Islamist mob that chased the PM out of Lakemba Mosque.’

Yemini was referring to Anthony Albanese and Home Affairs Minister Tony Burke being heckled at the Lakemba Mosque in Sydney’s west on March 20.

Protesters branded the pair ‘genocide supporters’ and shouted ‘Allahu Akbar’ in tense scenes.

The confrontation erupted at Lakemba Mosque about 7.30am on March 20 as the two politicians attended prayers with the Lebanese Muslim Association to mark the end of Ramadan, one of the most sacred dates on the Islamic calendar.

Burke and Albanese had been listening as Lebanese Muslim Association secretary Gamel Kheir urged worshippers to reconsider the community’s disengagement from government, warning it had left them with little influence over the war in Gaza, rising Islamophobia and policies affecting their lives.

Moments later, a small number of angry protesters began shouting ‘get them out of here’, ‘shame’ and ‘disgrace’ as Albanese and Burke, who had removed their shoes, sat on the prayer hall floor in their socks among hundreds of worshippers.

The protest against the Prime Minister and the Home Affairs Minister was organised by controversial activist group Stand4Palestine.

‘How dare you come here,’ Mukhlis Mah, a Stand4Palestine organiser, said before he was escorted out of the mosque. ‘This is our sacred place – why are you inviting him (Albanese) here today? The shame is on you.’

Other hecklers shouted, ‘boo Tony Burke, boo Albanese,’ and also called the Prime Minister a ‘putrid dog’.

Following Yemini’s story via Rebel News Australia, Waugh targeted Senator Faruqi and the Muslim protesters at the Lakemba Mosque when she commented on the post.

Waugh posted: ‘Stop letting her (Faruqi) have a say. She is crazy. They (protesting Muslims) are a bunch of animals.’

In a separate tweet, Waugh posted: ‘Is she (Faruqi) for real. Hello, embarrassing.’

It comes as Faruqi this week accused the federal government of continuing to ‘gaslight Muslims, as they deflect and obfuscate their role and responsibility in Israel’s genocide in Gaza.’

After she was reportedly censured by Labor representatives in parliament, Faruqi then took to Instagram.

‘The Labor party continues its record of cracking down on people who speak out against a genocide, while ignoring the perpetrator,’ her post read.

‘They obviously care more about pomp and ceremony than Palestinians being starved and killed in their thousands.

‘Labor has shown more outrage over me holding a sign than over Israel starving an entire population.’

Waugh is a successful trainer whose horses have a win rate of 14 per cent from more than 3700 starts, according to Racenet.

The Daily Mail has approached Waugh for comment.
