There’s something about a British summer wedding that just feels different. The sunshine (when we’re lucky enough to get it), long evenings, flowing drinks, relaxed food stations and guests spilling out onto the lawns create the kind of atmosphere couples are increasingly prioritising when planning their wedding day.
Over the last few years, outdoor weddings in the UK have become less about formal garden ceremonies and more about creating an experience. Couples are moving away from overly structured timelines and leaning into celebrations that feel fun, social and relaxed – think cocktail carts in the gardens, giant lawn games, outdoor lounges, live music in the sunshine and guests mingling outside well into the evening.
And while aesthetics obviously play a huge part, outdoor weddings also completely change the energy of the day. They encourage movement, conversation and a much more laid-back atmosphere that many couples now prefer over traditional formal receptions.
