The Employment Rights Bill received Royal Assent to become the Employment Rights Act 2025 on 18 December 2025. It makes provision for wide-ranging changes to employment law, including in relation to the unfair dismissal qualifying period and compensation cap, fire and rehire, and collective redundancies. Provision 29 of the UK Corporate Governance Code 2024 will come into effect for financial years beginning on or after 1 January 2026, also on 1 January 2026, the updated UK Stewardship Code will apply and the Companies (Directors’ Report) (Payment Reporting) Regulations 2025 come into force.
