Heart-pounding anxiety at the departure gate is a sensation we have all experienced: frantically forcing an overstuffed suitcase into metal size checkers or reluctantly layering on bulky clothing to dodge surprise airport fees. Fortunately, if you’re travelling with Jet2 this summer, we’ve got everything you need to know about the airline’s luggage restrictions so you can avoid getting caught out.
As someone who frequently attempts to compress a week’s holiday wardrobe into a solo backpack, strict baggage parameters are my personal summer bugbear. Ground crews are increasingly meticulous during gate boarding checks, meaning a single protruding wheel can result in your luggage being checked into the hold for an unexpected fee. So to avoid extra charges, it pays to know the rules.
While getting familiar with your airline’s luggage size restrictions will alleviate any last minute panic, it’s even more reassuring to have a bag that will swim through the checks without a second thought. Enter our tried and tested best travel backpacks and best cabin-friendly carry-ons that will make travelling with Jet2 a breeze, whether you’re off on a sun-trapped beach break or a city getaway.
We’ve also rounded up the best luggage brands that are worth investing in, to help you travel smarter every time.

What are the Jet2 hand luggage dimensions?
If you’re flying with Jet2, taking hand luggage is free of charge. However, it must weigh no more than 10kg and no 56cm x 45cm x 25cm (including wheels and handles).
You can also bring a small, under-seat bag onboard such as a handbag, laptop bag or a shopping bag from duty-free as long as it doesn’t measure more than 40 x 30 x 20cm in size and can be placed underneath the seat in front of you.
What is the Jet2 infant baggage allowance?
If you’re travelling with children, you can bring up to two items per child, plus an extra 10kg allowance for infants. These items include a collapsible pushchair, pram or buggy, a car seat or booster seat, a baby carrier and a travel cot.
Each item must weigh no more than 32kg, and any extra items (or weight beyond your allowance) will be charged as an excess cost.
What hand luggage can you take on Jet2?
You can bring two bags with you for no extra charge: one bag up to 10kg and a smaller one that fits under your seat.

Inside, both sides of the case can be zipped up, which creates two compartments.” She praised its handy inner pockets and how lightweight it is compared to other cabin bags. Plus at 55cm x 36cm x 20cm, it comfortably fits within Jet2’s restrictions.

Antler discovery backpack
The Antler discovery backpack was previously awarded the best carry-on backpack according to travel writer Alessia Armenise because of its practicality and spacious interior – and at 45cm x 31cm x 20cm it’s safely within Jet2’s size restrictions. Alessia said she managed to fit clothes, daily essentials and tech inside – plus more when using packing cubes.
In her review of the Antler discovery backpack, she said: “This bag is perfect for those who prefer to have their hands free when travelling, and it’s a good option for commuters. All compartments are well-padded, so any tech or fragile items would be safer in this bag than some other options included in this lineup.”
