If you’re eagerly anticipating the next bank holiday, the countdown to Easter Sunday (5 April) has officially started. The four-day weekend is a firm favourite for many thanks to the spring-like weather, delicious food and of course the best Easter eggs.
While many of us favour classic chocolate offerings such as Cadbury’s creme eggs, others have jumped on the creative plays conjured up at supermarkets and chocolatiers alike. So far this year, we’ve spotted some eye-catching flavours and textures, such as the Torres crisp egg.
Among them, we were excited to spot that Waitrose has brought back its viral pistachio egg. Following our obsession with Dubai chocolate, it’s no doubt destined to be a fan-favourite again. Shaped like a pistachio nut, it’s made from Fairtrade cocoa and white chocolate and is studded with real pistachios nibs – and this year Waitrose has upped the nib quantity.
Tempted to jump on the pistachio hype this Easter? The IndyBest team got their hands on it last year and awarded it four stars out of five, praising it for being “delicious”. I’ve tried it again this year to see if the extra pistachios make it even more delicious.

This luxe-looking Easter egg features a white chocolate and caramelised sugar shell, with a pistachio green inner ‘nut’.
Upon tasting the outer shell, I found the blonde chocolate creamy and biscuity, with the caramelised sugar swirled into the white chocolate creating notes of butterscotch on the tongue. The addition of salt helps to lift the sweetness and overall flavour, too.
The inner pistachio egg is throughly dotted with real pistachio pieces that creates a nice texture, while the nut paste adds a subtle but pretty sweet pistachio flavour.
There’s no doubt that the aesthetic offers an unusual element to Easter egg hunts and Easter Sunday dinner tables. Plus, it’s made using Fairtrade cocoa and presented in recyclable packaging, too.
While the £17 price point is a premium cost for an Easter egg, we think this could be a posh chocolate treat if you’re looking to splurge or spoil someone this year.
