JD Vance has suggested that the Catholic Church’s leadership could learn from the Trump administration’s approach to immigration.
Pope Leo has been critical of the president’s approach to immigration, calling for a “deep reflection” in the US on the treatment of migrants.
“What I would hope that the Catholic leadership has learned from some of the things that me, and Marco [Rubio] and the president have said about immigration is it’s not just about the dignity of the immigrant, it’s also about the dignity of the native-born people who have had their lives upended,” the vice president, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, told Fox News on Wednesday (1 July).
