The wife of an American major champion was taken to the hospital after being attacked by their family dog.
Former Open Championship winner Mark Calcavecchia shared a shocking image of his wife, Brenda, lying in a hospital bed with a pair of deep cuts to her face.
‘Well s***,’ Calcavecchia, who describes himself as a ‘dog dad’ in his X profile, posted on Tuesday night just before 9:00pm.
‘Our cray cray Jack Russell Lucie decided to take a bite outta @brendacalc face at zzzz time. Unexpected trip to Brevard hospital for stitches. Not good.’
It is not clear what became of the dog after the terrifying incident.
Calcavecchia was recently in the news after he was booted off the grounds of the Augusta National Golf Club.

Attending The Masters as an honorary invitee, the golfer violated the tournament’s notorious no-phone policy and was removed from the course he played 18 times during his career.
When reached for comment by Golfweek to address the incident, Calcavecchia replied that he had ‘nothing negative to say about Augusta National Golf Club and The Masters’ before hanging up his phone.
The 65-year-old has 13 PGA Tour victories and is currently competing on the senior circuit, the PGA Tour Champions.
His grandest career achievement was taking victory in the 1989 Open Championship at Royal Troon by defeating Australians Greg Norman and Wayne Grady in a playoff.
