USA track star Yared Nuguse has publicly come out as gay in a social media post, which simultaneously revealed his boyfriend, Julian Falco, to the world.
Nuguse, 25, won a bronze medal in the 1500m at the Paris Games, and had another exciting development to share with fans last week.
‘Introducing my boyfriend, Julian. Can’t believe we’re already one year in my love,’ he wrote with a heart. ‘Don’t act so surprised,’ he added in parentheses.
The carousel post included various photos of the happy couple doing things like going out for dinner, singing karaoke and working out together.
While Falco’s Instagram is set to private, a LinkedIn account appearing to belong to him shows that he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin in 2022 with a neuroscience degree.
The account shows that he currently works as a research engineering and scientist assistant at the school.

Other USA athletes congratulated Nugese and Falco in the comments, with track and field Paralympian Hunter Woodhall writing two heart emojis.
Meanwhile, Nugese’s fellow middle-distance runner Nikki Hiltz wrote: ‘Obsessed’ beneath the post.
Nuguse’s post came less than two months after he set the indoor mile world record at the Millrose Games in New York.
The runner clocked a stunning time of 3:46.63, which he later beamed about on his Instagram page.
‘My first WORLD Record!!,’ he wrote on February 10.
‘Been thinking about it a lot. Especially how crazy it is to think that no one in the whole dang world has ever run that fast in the mile (indoors) before. Feels like we’re really rewriting history here. I’m sure there’s much more to come.

He set the world record for the indoor mile in February but it was broken just five days later
Unfortunately, Nuguse’s world record was short-lived, as Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen broke it just five days later with a time of 3:45.14 – more than a second faster than the American.
In Paris, Nuguse beat out everyone but USA teammate Cole Hocker and Great Britain’s Josh Kerr, who took the 1500m gold and silver respectively.
Nuguse also qualified for the Tokyo Games in 2021 but was forced to miss out due to injury.
Notably, Nuguse’s teammate, Nico Young, became the first openly gay male track and field Olympian in Team USA history last year when he qualified for Paris.
Young, who came out as gay in 2022, finished 12th in the men’s 10,000 meter race.
