Funding of up to £3.425 million for UK-registered businesses to support terrestrial demonstrations of quantum communications or networking, and to build preparedness for a demonstration with a satellite mission alongside Canadian counterparts.
This competition opens on Monday 3 November 2025 and closes at 11am on Wednesday 26 November 2025.
Who it is for
This competition is open to collaborations only.
To lead a collaborative project your organisation must be a UK registered business of any size or academic institution.
The consortium must contain at least one UK registered micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) claiming grant funding on this application.
To collaborate with the lead as a funded partner, your organisation must be one of the following UK registered
- business of any size
- academic institution
- charity
- not for profit
- public sector organisation
- research and technology organisation (RTO)
Your project must
- have a grant funding request of no more than £3.425 million
- not start before 1 April 2026
- end by 31 March 2029
Support you can get
This competition aims to develop and demonstrate terrestrial and spaceborne quantum communications capability. It is also to strengthen UK and Canada partnerships in the commercialisation of quantum communications and networking technologies.
For Industrial research projects in the Research, Development and Innovation Streamlined Subsidy Scheme you can get funding for your eligible project costs of
- up to 70% if you are a micro or small organisation
- up to 60% if you are a medium-sized organisation
- up to 50% if you are a large organisation
