Two Brentford players are understood to be fine after helping a man who was allegedly the victim of an assault in south west London during the early hours of Sunday morning.

As reported by the Telegraph, it is understood the two players were returning home following Saturday’s Premier League match at Leeds when they saw a man being attacked in Richmond at around 2am.

The Brentford players helped defuse the incident before police came to the scene. The Press Association understands the players are and always have been fine, with no injuries sustained.

With Brentford’s match at Elland Road, which finished goalless, the last ahead of the international break, during which some players will join up with their countries, it is understood the squad had been given permission to make their own travel arrangements home from Leeds.

According to the Telegraph, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “Police attended a report of an assault on Queen’s Road, Richmond at around 02:00hrs on Sunday, 22 March.

“Officers engaged with the victim. The investigation is ongoing and no arrests have been made at this time.”

A 0-0 draw leaves Brentford seventh in the Premier League entering the international break.
