- Garry Lyon has awkward moment with Essendon’s Xavier Duursma
- Harley Reid split from AFLW player Yasmin Duursma last month
Footy broadcaster Garry Lyon had an awkward moment while on air as he mistakenly thought AFL star Harley Reid’s relationship with AFLW player Yasmin Duursma was still going.
The West Coast Eagles midfielder, 20, had been dating Duursma since January last year, but the footballers quietly split last month.
Lyon, who mustn’t be up to date with footy’s dating news, was speaking to Duursma’s brother Xavier, who plays for Essendon, on SEN Breakfast on Tuesday.
The Fox Sports star and co-host Tim Watson had been talking about Duursma’s younger brother Willem when Lyon said, ‘And your brother-in-law, Harley, he could come in as well.’
Duursma laughed and Lyon quickly realised his blunder, saying, ‘Oh, hang on.’
Watson interjected with, ‘Oh, Garry, you need to catch up with the news, mate.’

Duursma commented: ‘We still like Harley’.
Lyon was apologetic about the mistake. ‘No, good. I should have checked that. Sorry about that.’
In July, eagle-eyed fans noticed that Reid had removed Duursma’s initials from his Instagram bio, while Duursma deleted pictures of the pair from her own feed.
The couple, who had known each other since childhood, made their red-carpet debut together at last year’s Brownlow Medal.
Meanwhile, speculation is mounting that Reid could sign the ‘biggest deal in AFL history’.
Essendon legend Tim Watson announced on SEN Breakfast that St Kilda had offered $25million to lure Reid back to Victoria.
‘They’ve also made a Godfather offer to Harley Reid of $25 million over 12 years. That’s the number that’s coming via the West Coast Eagles at the moment,’ Watson said, referring to the ‘offer you can’t refuse’ line from the famous movie.

St Kilda have reportedly offered the popular footballer $25million for his signature
‘I’m not making this up. This is what I was told yesterday. This has absolutely got everybody in the footy world spinning.
‘That’s the information that I received, that the West Coast Eagles believe that there’s been an offer tabled by St Kilda around $25 million over 12 years.’
Reid is contracted at the Eagles until the end of 2026.
He has also been connected to a switch to Hawthorn, Geelong, Richmond and Essendon.
