A tribute has been paid to an 89-year-old woman who died after being hit by a recycling lorry.
Daphne Stallard died at the scene of the incident, which happened at about 09:00 BST on Monday on Brookes Street, near Caroline Road, in Llandudno, Conwy county.
A man who was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released under investigation, North Wales Police said.
Holy Trinity Llandudno Junior Church said in a social media post that “many of you will have seen the report of the death of a local 89-year-old woman hit by a recycling truck”, confirming that the victim was Ms Stallard, who was one of their volunteers.
“We are sorry to report that the victim was Daphne Stallard, a regular helper at Junior Church,” the post on the church’s Facebook page said.
Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the incident, but Ms Stallard died at the scene.
Conwy council has confirmed one of its recycling vehicles was involved.
The authority offered its thoughts and condolences to Ms Stallard’s family.
Appealing for witnesses, Sgt Duncan Logan of North Wales Police said “The lady’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by officers, and our thoughts and sympathies are very much with them at this incredibly difficult time.”
