Travis Kelce has been left red-faced after failing to identify a reference about himself from Taylor Swift’s album ‘The Life of a Showgirl’.

During the latest episode of his podcast New Heights, Kelce missed a clear reference to Swift’s song ‘Wood’ – an ode to the Chiefs star – which released in October.

The song, which sparked controversy last year, makes mention of the Kelce brothers’ podcast, with Swift singing: ‘New Heights (New Heights) of manhood (Manhood)’.

Evidently, however, the lyrics didn’t resonate with Chiefs star Kelce, who struggled to remember them when quizzed about it on Wednesday.

During the latest episode of the New Heights podcast, Kelce and his brother Jason discussed their upcoming line of merchandise.

In their latest podcast episode, Kelce and his brother Jason discussed their new merchandise, to which the latter said: ‘I can’t believe none of the hoodies are called ‘New Heights of Man-Hoodie’.

A bewildered Travis responded: ‘What’s that mean? What’s a ‘man-hoodie’? Is that a thing?’

The podcast’s producer chimed in: ‘It’s a Life of a Showgirl reference, come on. ‘New Heights of manhood,’ it’s the time you were referenced in the album.’

Chiefs star Travis then sheepishly admitted: ‘I didn’t understand that. Taylor’s gonna kill me for not knowing that!’.

In an attempt to cover for his brother, Jason said: ‘We’re not as good with the Easter eggs as these Swifties’.

Travis then added, ‘They sure know how to plant ’em and call ’em out.’

The track itself caused a stir in the days after Swift released her ‘Life of a Showgirl’ album due to its unmistakable references to the NFL star’s manhood.

Strewn throughout the entire song – which is called ‘Wood’ – are lyrics about how the Kelce finally broke her unlucky streak in love. She also mentions his ‘magic wand’, ‘Redwood tree’ and detailed how ‘His love was the key / That opened my thighs.’

In a podcast episode released shortly after the album, Jason brutally mocked Travis for Swift’s reference to his manhood as a ‘Redwood tree’ on her new album.

‘Do you feel cocky about the song wood,’ Jason teased.

Travis replied: ‘No, any song that she references me in is a very…’

Jason interrupted: ‘That’s not just any song! This is a very specific you. It’s an appendage, it’s a very specific thing.’

Swift, meanwhile, spoke out on the song she dedicated to Kelce‘s manhood at the time – admitting she got carried away after starting out ‘in a very innocent place’.

During an appearance on The Jimmy Fallon Show, Swift joked that she surprised herself by getting to that raunchy place.

‘So I brought this into the studio and I was like: I want to do a throwback, timeless-sounding song and I had this idea about “I gotta knock on wood” and it would be all these superstitions,’ she explained. ‘And it really started out in a very innocent place… I don’t know what happened, man.

‘I got in there, we started vibing and I don’t know how we got here. But I love the song so much.’
