Travis Kelce was so invested in The Masters, he nearly changed his plans from last weekend to head down to Augusta National to watch the final round of action in person.
This year’s edition of arguably the most prestigious golf tournament of the year was star-studded, with Rory McIlroy acting as the headliner.
McIlroy had never won a Green Jacket, and was trying to win his major tournament in over a decade, holding America, and Kelce’s, attention with every putt before his eventually playoff victory.
Kelce did never reveal what his original plans were for this weekend, instead of watching the tournament from home, or beside girlfriend Taylor Swift.
‘We’ve got a new Masters champion! Trav, did you watch?’ Jason Kelce began on ‘New Heights’.
‘Dude, I did, and it was electric. The whole time I was thinking, “Oh man, am I going to go to the Masters on Sunday?’ Travis replied. ‘Am I going to find a way to get down there to watch this epic ending?” Bryson making a f***ing run on Saturday, and then Justin Rose just trying to hold on, and Rory just going up and down all week, and then just skyrocketing. It was so fun to watch! Shoutout to Rory, how about that. A career Grand Slam, there’s only been five of them before.’

Rory McIlroy won his first Green Jacket on Sunday with a dramatic playoff victory at Augusta
‘I was rooting for Rory going into it, I actually had money on Rory and I’m very happy about this. I’m not a big gambler, but I did have some small wagers on him. Listen, Rory seems like an awesome dude. He had accomplished everything in golf outside of this, and he’s playing so well right now, so I think everybody is excited about it,’ Jason retorted.
‘Dude the last day, that might be the most I’ve sweated watching golf in my life. Right from the get-go, he double bogeys, Bryson is tied, then Bryson goes up a stroke after two or three holes. I’m just like, “dude, he’s collapsing again.” I couldn’t help but think that!’
‘It was an emotional rollercoaster for everyone!’ Travis continued.
‘He storms back, he’s got a commanding lead… that putt on 18, dude. I’m just like… I get it, I’ve missed an eagle putt right at that lisp, just because you know how much getting an eagle would mean. You’re sitting there and you’re like, “I’m going to make this, this is so good, I can’t believe it,” and then you pull it or you push it. I think everyone can relate to that moment. But the fact that he lost to Bryson last year on a very similar putt…’ Jason added.
‘Dude, it had been over 10 years since my dawg has won a f***ing major. How crazy is that? And that’s the putt… you have it in the bag, all you’ve got to do is just make that putt. Bro, you could see him sweating it, oh my gosh. And then he just said, “you know what: enough is enough”. And then the playoff, it was so f***ing satisfying seeing him go up and down and up and down. And Justin Rose, I’m not going to lie, I thought he was going to drain that putt on 18,’ Travis stated.
‘What was weird was, I was rooting for Rory the whole time, and then the story of Justin Rose and how many runners-up he’s had and how close he’s been a number of times. I was kind of rooting for both… but the moment Rory hit that second shot [in the playoff], that was amazing. It did not disappoint. Probably the most exciting Sunday of Masters golf I’ve ever seen in my life,’ Jason concluded.
‘It was a fun, fun weekend!’ Travis said.
