Tragic NFL star Josh Mauro had been snorting cocaine on a four-day bender before his death from an accidental overdose, according to a medical report.
The former New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, and Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end died at the age of just 35 in April.
Now, a Phoenix Police Department case report, which was first obtained by the California Post, reveals that he had been partying with several women – including a dancer – in the hours before his death.
vIt is reported that Mauro first met the dancer a week earlier, later inviting her, a friend and two other women to a gathering at his Arizona home in the early hours of April 23.
The woman told police that, while at Mauro’s property, the ex-NFL star and his friend began snorting cocaine, while ‘all of them’ drank tequila and listened to music.
The report then states that the dancer and the other women went upstairs to sleep ‘after a few hours’, while Mauro and his friend remained downstairs.

She went on to reveal that when she woke, she discovered Mauro alone and apparently dead on the floor, before desperately trying to revive him and calling the emergency services.
The unnamed woman also claims that Mauro had told her he’d been on a ‘bender for four days’ before her arrival, while she also said she noticed he would get frequent nosebleeds and would sweat after snorting cocaine.
The report adds that a bottle cap with a white substance in it was found near Mauro’s body, as well as a white powdery substance near a rolled-up dollar bill, tissues with apparent blood on them, and a syringe in a trash can.
The Daily Mail previously reported that the cause of Mauro’s death was listed as an accidental overdose by the Maricopa County Medical Examiner.
That report found that he had ‘traces of fentanyl, cocaine and ethanol’ in his body, as well as ‘cannabinoids and caffeine’.
Mauro’s death was first revealed by his father Greg, who wrote in a statement: ‘With many tears and broken hearts, yet anchored in the unshakable certainty that our precious Josh Mauro is now healed and made new – living in the presence of the Lord – we humbly covet your prayers as our family walks through the devastating loss.

It added that Mauro ‘breathed his last breath on this earth and his first breath in heaven.’
Born in St Albans near London, England, Mauro moved to the United States when he was three years old, growing up in Texas.
After emerging as a standout talent in high school, he played college football at Stanford University.
Mauro went undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft but was later signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
However, his stint with the Steelers was extremely brief, with Mauro released during the team’s final roster cuts.

He ultimately landed with the Arizona Cardinals, where his professional career truly began.
Mauro spent the majority of his career in Arizona, playing four seasons with the Cardinals from 2014 to 2017 before returning for a second stint from 2020 to 2021.
He established himself as a rotational defensive lineman and occasional starter. During the 2016 season, he started 13 games and recorded a career-high 42 tackles.
He also enjoyed stints with the New York Giants in 2018, the Oakland Raiders in 2019, and the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020, before finishing his career back with the Cardinals following the 2021 season.
