The inquest into the death of Maddy Cusack has been adjourned midway through proceedings, with the hearing now set to resume in December.
The former Sheffield United Women vice-captain was found dead at her home in Horsley, Derbyshire, by her father, David Cusack, on September 20, 2023. She was 27 years old. An inquest into her death began at Chesterfield Coroner’s Court on June 30, nearly three years after her death.
The Cusack family, who had expressed a desire for the inquest to conclude this week, now face a wait of at least another five months before proceedings can be completed.
This delay comes as a result of new evidence being submitted to coroner Sophie Cartwright, which is understood to be of a medical nature, as well as further evidence submitted by the family.
