Waynesburg University in Pennsylvania is mourning the loss of a 20-year-old wrestler and student who died in a tragic motorcycle accident.
A statement released by the private Christian school on Monday confirmed the passing of Jessie Orbin Jr.
According to a GoFundMe page set up to help Orbin’s family, Jessie ‘suffered a severe brain injury that was not survivable, leaving his family, friends, and community heartbroken.’
‘The Waynesburg University community is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our student athletes,’ the university said in a statement.
‘Jessie Orbin will be greatly missed. We are sending prayers for God to lift up and comfort his family at this difficult time.’
Orbin was the captain of the Waynesburg Yellow Jackets wrestling team last season.

Orbin is being remembered for having a ‘kind and generous heart’
Across his time at the school, he was named Waynesburg’s Male Athlete of the Year twice. In addition to his wrestling pursuits, Orbin also played for Waynesburg’s football team.
During his tenure as captain, Orbin led the team in total wins, pins, technical falls and major decisions, per the university.
He put up an impressive 11-0 record from winter 2025 in dual matches, which gave him a 38-bout win streak in dual competition stretching back ‘to his early freshman campaign,’ the school shared.
The GoFundMe has raised over $38,000 so far to help Orbin’s family with medical and funeral expenses.
The fundraiser says, ‘the impact he made on those around him was extraordinary,’ and remembered Orbin for having a ‘kind and generous heart.’
‘He was the type of person who would give someone the shirt off his back without hesitation,’ the fundraiser description read. ‘He often put others before himself, including his siblings, whom he adored.’
