NFL legend Tom Brady opened up on his ‘special trip’ with his father in an emotional Instagram post on Thursday.

The former quarterback, 48, celebrated Father’s Day with ‘one of the greatest experiences of my life’ by taking his dad, Tom Brady Snr, 82, on a golf trip to some of the best courses Ireland had to offer.

The father-son duo made special memories on the fairways of some of the most prestigious golf courses on the Emerald Isle – Royal County Down, Portmarnock and Adare Manor, where the 2027 Ryder Cup will be held.

The retired signal caller gushed over the experience as he shared a series of photos to Instagram, showing off the lush Irish landscape, moments with his dad and even a couple of pints of Guinness.

‘These pictures are worth 1000 words and even more memories. It’s hard to describe how special this trip to Ireland was with my idol and hero, my dad,’ Brady wrote.

‘It didn’t take much convincing to head to Ireland to play some of the best golf courses in the world, @RoyalCountyDownGC, @PortmarnockGolfClub and @TheAdareManor, but to be on the course with my dad on Father’s Day was one of the greatest experiences of my life.’

Brady has Irish roots with his great-great-grandparents originally emigrating from Counties Cavan and Cork to the United States.

His father identifies as ‘100 percent Irish’ and Brady has previously expressed his pride about his Irish heritage.

‘Returning to Ireland was special in its own right, and the incredible hospitality and kindness of the Irish people will always hold a place in my family’s heart,’ Brady added.

‘I’m beyond blessed to create memories like these, and it’s all because of the work my dad did for our family and how he has supported us all and loved us unconditionally. The foundation of love and support from my mom and dad was second to none. I can only hope to be back here someday with my kids years from now.’

He finished the post with a cheeky dig at his own golf game, adding a photo of an on-course trash can that was labeled ‘rubbish.’

‘PS: Last slide is what your game turns into when those winds get going,’ he wrote with a trio of laughing emojis.

Brady had discussed the trip with Irish soccer legend Roy Keane on the Stick to Football podcast earlier this week.

‘I’m going to Ireland on Monday by the way,’ he told Keane and Gary Neville. ‘I’m going to play golf with my dad for three days.’

He shared that he had begun swinging a club as young as the age of two thanks to his dad’s passion for the sport.

Brady continued to play golf during college even working on a golf course during his summers. However, he admitted the sport fell by the wayside during his professional career, which saw him win seven Super Bowl titles in the NFL.

Brady told the two Manchester United legends that, following his second and final retirement from the NFL in 2023, he reignited his love of golf, hinting that he is ‘pretty good now’ off a handicap of ‘three or four.’
