Thursday was a recovery day, not only for the New York Knicks, but celebrity super fan Timothée Chalamet as well.

‘Ppl underestimate the wear and tear on the body of a fan throughout the playoffs,’ the 30-year-old actor wrote on Instagram alongside photos of himself icing his knees. ‘Self care is important.’

New York won its 12th straight postseason game on Wednesday night in San Antonio after battling back from a 14-point second-half deficit to take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals. But the dramatic victory was an arduous one for Chalamet & Co.

Knicks point guard Jalen Brunson scored 13 of his 30 points in a key final stretch after battling back from knee and ankle issues. Other members of New York’s walking wounded included center Mitchell Robinson, who played Wednesday days after surgery on his broken pinkie, and OG Anunoby, who has been battling a hamstring issue.

Not to be outdone, the sprightly Chalamet could be seen jumping up and down from his courtside seats, only to pay the price for it on Thursday with a two-pack of ice bags on his knees.

Still, the effort seemed to be worth it for Chalamet and the other celebrity Knicks fans who descended on San Antonio, including Ben Stiller, Spike Lee, Tracy Morgan and John Turturro.

Another comedian, Shane Gillies, was also seated near the floor on Wednesday night, although he’s not necessarily a New York supporter.

Other notable names there to support the Knicks included former player and Hall-of-Famer Patrick Ewing.

Former Spurs players Robert Horry and Manu Ginobili were also on hand, as were fellow NBA retirees James Worthy and Gary Payton.

Perhaps most importantly, legendary Spurs coach Gregg Popovich was seated in a VIP suite. He stepped down from his coaching duties to promote assistant Mitch Johnson following his 2024 stroke.

Meanwhile, back in New York, throngs of Knicks fans took to the streets near Madison Square Garden as revelers spilled out of watch parties both inside and outside the arena to celebrate the win.

Game 2 tips off from San Antonio on Friday shortly after 8:30pm EST before the series heads back to New York for Games 3 and 4. President Donald Trump and New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani are expected to be at Madison Square Garden for Monday’s Game 3.
