The estranged wife of Australian women’s cricket vice-captain Ashleigh Gardner has gone nuclear after our exclusive about their break-up, naming another Aussie player as the supposed ‘other woman’ in their split and declaring there is more to the story.
Monica Wright has identified Georgia Voll, 22, as the woman her 29-year-old wife allegedly cheated with while Australia contested the ICC Women’s World Cup in India from September to November last year.
She made the allegation on her public Instagram on Monday, posting an unflattering photo of Voll alongside the words ‘this is who my wife cheated on me with’.
Her claim has since been repeated widely across social media and Reddit, and by media outlets such as Yahoo and The Times of India, reaching an audience of millions. Neither Gardner nor Voll has denied the allegation in the 24 hours since it was made, despite the Daily Mail’s attempts to reach them for comment.
Cricket Australia also has not denied the affair allegations, despite the Mail’s repeated efforts to get a statement. Late last week, when we first contacted Richard Hinds, the respected former Fairfax sportswriter who now serves as Cricket Australia’s senior communications chief, he simply said: ‘Yeah, no comment on that.’
The Mail’s world-exclusive published on Monday had included details about Wright and Gardner’s split, including how a conversation they had at their Northern Beaches home after the India tour effectively marked the end of the couple’s marriage.

On Monday, Wright took to her public Instagram account to sensationally accuse Gardner of cheating on her with her teammate Georgia Voll (pictured)
Wright linked to our story about the split but remarked that it was ‘too vague’. The Mail had made the decision not to identify Voll at the time because she and Gardner had not commented
However, we omitted several key allegations at the time, having decided not to identify Voll as Gardner’s alleged affair partner because neither party had publicly commented.
Given that Wright has now identified Voll, the Mail has decided to publish some of those previously undisclosed claims, which were relayed to us by a team source with knowledge of the split.
Our insider alleged that in October last year, just months after Wright and Gardner’s wedding, Gardner and Voll began a relationship while in India for the World Cup.
‘Monica then visited to see her wife for the World Cup,’ they said.
‘It was a little bit weird. Like, Monica sat next to Georgia at some point in time. She was being friendly as she normally is.
‘It was like something was a little bit off with Ash, but we thought it was because of the pressure of the World Cup.’
The source alleged that Gardner confessed to Wright about the affair after they returned to their Northern Beaches home in Sydney following the World Cup.
‘When they got home, [Gardner] goes, “Hey, look, can we talk?” And she sat her down and she goes, “I f**ked up,”‘ the insider claimed.
A source told the Daily Mail that Wright and Gardner (pictured) were planning to start a family before the marriage fell apart after last year’s Women’s World Cup in India

Gardner allegedly did not want to name her affair partner, but after Wright pushed, the Sydney Sixers captain confessed about Voll.
‘[Wright] messaged Georgia straight away. She didn’t respond ever,’ the source said.
‘It wasn’t a mean message or anything like that, but she still just didn’t have the balls to message Monica back.’
The insider said Wright was ‘shattered’ and ‘distraught’ when Gardner came clean about the alleged affair.
‘They were about to go to the fertility clinic. They had a booking that Monica had to cancel,’ the source said.
Voll, Gardner and Cricket Australia were contacted for comment.

Gardner is understood to have moved out of the home the couple shared in November, with Wright still living in their house.
‘Ash left one day. Monica came home and everything of Ash’s was gone, except for the rings,’ said the source.
‘She left the wedding rings in the cupboard. Just the box of wedding rings, and that was it.’
The Daily Mail understands that Gardner’s marriage breakdown sent shockwaves through the Southern Stars because Monica had been ‘around the team for five years’ and ‘knew them all’, according to the source.
‘Some of them are really good mates, and Monica has a very good relationship with a lot of [players] still. A lot of them are quite upset,’ added the insider.
‘She had messages from nearly all of the girls telling her how upset they were about it.’
Our source claimed a disclosure was made to Cricket Australia’s National Selection Panel (NSP) when Gardner was appointed captain of the Women’s BBL team Sydney Sixers in November, shortly after her split from Wright.
She was later made co-vice-captain of the national team at the start of the year.
While the captaincy meetings were happening, the insider says that Gardner had attempted to smooth things over with Wright.
However, it is understood the relationship could not be salvaged.
Gardner and Wright met on a dating app in 2020, with the couple later proposing to one another in April 2024.
They tied the knot in a rustic ceremony in the Blue Mountains in April 2025.
Voll broke into the Aussie Test side in January last year after debuting for the Brisbane Heat in the Women’s Big Bash League in 2020.
