Footy superstar Reece Walsh has made a shock change with the NRL season just weeks away – and even his daughter was left in tears at the development.

But Broncos fans can rest easy – Walsh, 23, isn’t injured.

The dazzling fullback instead visited a new-age barber, with his snazzy haircut leaving footy fans divided.

‘Reece, is that really you? asked one on TikTok. ‘Was not expecting that,’ another posted.

‘What on earth,’ said a third, while a fourth hoped Walsh’s new ‘do’ was the work of AI (Artificial Intelligence).

On X, some supporters were equally dismayed at the premiership-winner.

‘Reece Walsh cut his hair #devastated,’ one posted. ‘Why on earth did Reece do this,’ another said.

Over on Facebook, fans were blunt on the Brisbane Broncos Fans 4Life page.

‘Justin Bieber of the NRL,’ one felt, with a second brutally stating: ‘that’s terrible, he has gone Hollywood, hate it.’

Walsh’s daughter Leila also wasn’t happy, with the youngster initially crying after seeing her father’s fresh look.

The footy star co-parents Leila with his ex Freda Puru, with the pair reuniting to celebrate the youngster’s graduation from kindergarten in December.

Both parents proudly posed for photos with their girl as she celebrated a life milestone.

Walsh’s father Rodney previously opened up about how his son broke the news that he and Puru were expecting a baby when he was just 18 years old.

Rodney – who also detailed how the NRL superstar rose above the trauma of his mother’s drug addiction – recalled how nervous Reece was when he made the baby reveal.

Walsh enjoyed a vintage 2025 which included a premiership ring, the Clive Churchill Medal for best player in the Grand Final and an Ashes victory over England with the Kangaroos

‘He was a bit worried to tell us he was having a kid,’ Rodney told News Corp.

‘The way I reacted, I was calm. ‘He said, ‘Far out, Dad, I thought you would be way worse than that.

‘But I had kids when I was young…once it’s done, it’s done, you just try and give her the best life you can.’

On the field, Walsh enjoyed a vintage 2025 which included a premiership ring, the Clive Churchill Medal for best player in the NRL Grand Final and an Ashes victory over England with the Kangaroos.

According to the TAB, Brisbane ($5) are tipped to go back-to-back this season, ahead of Penrith ($6), Melbourne ($7) and the Roosters ($7).

Michael Maguire’s men open their 2026 campaign with a blockbuster home clash against the Panthers on March 6 at Suncorp Stadium.
